PRECALCULUSThis page is dedicated to providing learning resources to SHS students who are taking their first specialized course in the STEM strand. The course includes concepts on conics, systems of nonlinear equations, mathematical induction, circular and trigonometric functions and polar coordinates.

Important Reminders
Final Examination will be on December 14, Thursday, 7:30 AM at RM 510. The exam covers all discussions done in class including those covered before the midterm.
There are two types of test: multiple choice (30 items), modified true or false (10 items), and open-ended concept-based analytical questions (5 items).
Problem Set 4 has already been uploaded and must be submitted on December 5th, Tuesday. Follow the instructions given especially the set assignment.
Download and print out the In-Class Activity intended for the discussion on Angles and Circles scheduled on Tuesday, December 5th. Protractors are needed in class.

1 Conic Sections: Circle
For this session, SHS students in Precalculus are expected to develop the following learning competencies:

2 Equations of Circles
This new slideshow presentation continues the discussion on the first conic section discussed in class, the circle.
The aim is to present the two forms of equations of circles: (a) standard form; and (b) general form. The discussion also includes the process of transforming equations from one form to the other, determining the position of a point with respect to a circle, graphing a circle given its equation, and solving simple problems that involve the conic. NOTE: A problem set will be uploaded on this site on September 22nd, Friday. Download the file, answer the items assigned to you, and submit to class on Tuesday.
